Autumn in New York

It rained in the morning.  The fallen leaves sponged up the moisture and were trampled into flat patterns by busy pedestrian traffic. The leaves were reaching the end of their lives, their natural structure meshing with the city sidewalks forming ephemeral compositions with the contrasts of wet and dry. I ran home and picked up a Nikon D800 with 90mm Tamron macro lens to photograph the leaves in high resolution before the pavement dried and the whole experience disappeared.
